Guided Bear Hunts

Bear numbers are the highest we've ever seen them! In 2015 we maintained five bait sites. We put cameras on four of those five baits over the spring/summer months, and were stunned with the number of bears! We carefully scrutinized the pictures and determined we were feeding 35 bears, and we didn't even have a camera on bait number five!

What was super exciting was the number of Pope & Young bears. We have five bears that will easily reach into Pope & Young and two possible "Booner" bears as well.

If you're serious about a trophy class bear hunt, we are ready. We have the bear you've been waiting for!

Where do the hunts take place?

Our bear hunts take place on our registered Bear Management Area (BMA). Boundary Waters Guide Service has the exclusive right to guide non-resident hunters on our BMA. Our BMA is approximately 400 square miles, and takes in a large portion of the Boundary Waters area. Recognizable areas include the Pigeon River, North & South Fowl Lakes, and Moose Lake.

When do we hunt, and for how long?

Our hunts typically run from opening day, August 15th to late in the fall, October 31st. They are based on 5 night 6-day hunts. We can accommodate up to six hunters per party, however we prefer to book four hunters per week. We find this provides better attention to our guests.

We only book ten to twelve hunters per season. This practice ensures a quality experience: you will see more bear and an old age class of bear. We really aim to manage our bear population in a sustainable manner.

Why Boundary Waters Guide Service?

When you confirm a bear hunt with Boundary Waters Guide Service we guarantee that you will be comfortably accommodated. You will be respectfully treated. You will be located at a bait that was started in May; three and a half months BEFORE you arrive. We believe in maintaining our sites to ensure good bear numbers. The only true way to do that is pre bait, heavily. You benefit directly from our baiting program. Because we take limited guests, we guarantee you will be the first or second hunter on that stand! That’s it. Not hunter number five or eight!

Upon arrival we meet you and get you accommodated. We take care of the paper work and licenses. We sight in or shoot the bows and we review the latest trail cam pictures from the baits you will be sitting at. Then... WE HUNT!
