Wildlife Weekends

There have been so many expressions of interest in watching wildlife that we've decided to create a package called Wildlife Weekends, designed to be affordable and convenient.

Our Wildlife Weekend packages generally run Friday morning to Sunday evening. We will pick you up from the Thunder Bay International Airport and get you to the cabin and back on Sunday for your flight. These adventures are all inclusive: your package includes all transportation, accommodations and meals. You simply bring the appropriate clothing and that's it! See below for the packages we offer.

Bear Watching

Bear watching gets going in early May and we take it into October. We place our guests in elevated tree stands (or ground blinds for those not faint of heart) with or without a guide, and you spend as many hours as you'd like watching wild, free roaming bear. It's very likely to see several bears in an evening including mamas and their babies!

Wolf Watching

If you've never seen a wild, free Timber Wolf, you're in for a humbling experience. These powerful, majestic predators are a real privilege to see, they are the true definition of the Canadian strong and free. Our wolf watching weekends run from December 15th into March. We ride the snowmobiles to the blinds and snowshoe the rest of the distance to minimize disturbance. We sit in heated 6x8 blinds with windows to take pictures and videos from. The blinds also have comfortable chairs.

I have been in the forest my whole life. I consider myself a rugged, tough outdoor fella. Last January I was watching five wolves on the ice most of the day. It was a remarkable day. As the sun was setting and the shadows crept in, these wolves started to howl right beside the blind! Not 50 yards away! I will be honest here: It scared the stuffing right out of me. It was by far the most humbling, "cut you to the soul" experience I've had the privilege of experiencing in the wilderness. When you are in close proximity to a pack of wild, free howling wolves it will definitely define your place and role in the food chain. I guarantee you that!
